Homing, shows, and what the h is a dropcard?!

Well well…I am back in Halifax, home, and still lacking sleep. I was in Saskatchewan for a surprise pre wedding celebration for my sister! We got her good! lol…it was pretty funny. Anyways…I had to fly back Sunday morning at 5am so I was up at 4am! Got into Halifax just in time for soundcheck for a wicked show with Charlie A’Court at the Carleton. Had a shower, grabbed a coffee and some food and off to play! What a night! I was so tired I was shaking and red in the face but I pulled it off. Man that Charlie has a voice that can make you cry, forget to breath, gasp, and jaw drop all at the same time, which is pretty spectacular! lol He’s also one of the most down to earth, genuine people you could meet, which is always so refreshing in the music business. It was a pleasure to meet him and open for him!

Next…the dropcard is pre-selling for May.1st but only at my live shows!!! So you should try and catch one so you can pick one up! You may be wondering what all these dropcards are about so let me tell you. My dropcard contains a bunch of wicked stuff!

Here it is:
I recorded 3 new songs in the studio. These 3 songs are done 2 different ways! A folked out laid back style, and a rocked up radio feel. Whatever you feel like listening to, have at it. Then…there are a couple live tracks, raw tracks, and guide tracks, 2 songs from the album I have out right now, “The Last Version”, and video footage from “In the Dead of Winter” festival I played in Halifax! On top of this..I will upload a new vid, studio track, live track or some other mystery something every month! All this and the card uses 50 times less material than a traditional cd! These cards are only 10 bucks!

And the months ahead…

Well hey there folks!

Alright…these next few months are going to be busy.  I’ll be planning in March, recording in April, and playing a ton of shows in May! In the beginning of June, Carmel Mikol and I will be touring to NFLD to meet up with Ian Foster! Then at the end of July and the beginning of August, I’ll be headed out to the West Coast to do some shows.  Like I said…March is planning month!

Back to May though! Starting May.1st, the dropcard (aka Digital EP) will be released! The actual card will only be available at my merch table but you’ll be able to download the new songs on itunes so no worries!  This dropcard will have a bunch of wicked stuff on it…3 new tracks, In the Dead of Winter video footage, live tracks, raw studio tracks, and a little something new every month! Whether it’s a new song we’re starting in the studio or a live show, we’ll surprise you. 

We decided on this dropcard vs. a traditional CD due to be a little more environmentally friendly. The dropcard contains 50 times less material than a traditional CD! The album will be released in October (date TBA!) so we needed something for you to take home from shows between now and then since my 2007 album ‘The Last Version’ is almost sold out! The dropcard is super easy to use so don’t worry about a thing!

Recording and other exciting news!

Well hey there folks!

I’m in the studio this week recording new tracks for the dropcard, which will be released in April and followed by an East Coast tour! “Where I Need to Be”, “Oh Heart”, and “Out of My Closet” will be the tracks and I’m pumped for you to hear them! I’ll also be in Saskatchwan, Alberta, and B.C in the next 5 months so keep on checkin’ the gig link!

Pleasssssssseee do get your tickets for In the Dead of Winter Festival! I’m playing two shows…one is a songwriter’s circle with Thom Swift and Justin Rutledge, and the other is my very own 45 minute set which will be video for my website and the new dropcard! So please come out and cheer and sing along! Donald MacLennan will be accompanying me on violin and mandolin and he’s amazing so make sure you check it out.
