It’s all about the journey….

Hola from Vancouver folks!!!

What a journey it has been! Such beautiful driving..it’s so great to be back in the mountains and back West. Canada is so freakin’ beautiful and it is absolutely amazing and incredible when you get to travel through it, meeting different people in each province you travel to, every province having it’s own unique feel and beauties and people. Siggghhh…We are lucky Canada…don’t ever forget that…

So…we left off waiting to play our gig in Red Deer. Wow..this might be a long one…lol!

Red Deer
was absolutely amazing! We played a theatre venue called The Matchbox and it was such a cool, attentive, relaxed atmosphere. We were all laughing, crying, and even drinking slurpees lol (Rob was nice enough to bring us slurpees during our set break since Carmel hadn’t had a slurpee yet!!! They don’t have them on the East Coast and it’s been a little joke in one of my songs about sprite slurpees because I’ve greatly missed them…mmmmmm…lol) Anyways…we got an encore from a crowd of about 60 and I even somehow blanked on my song “The Last Version” and old friends and family were nice enough to sing my lyrics back at me so I could finish the song. It was like we were all in one big black living room with stage lights lol….thank you Red Deer and the Matchbox. This show meant a lot to us…

I also have to greatly thank my momma for putting up 55 posters all over Red Deer and handing me a detailed list of which places put up posters and which ones didn’t lol…oh mom…lol….also..thank you for the amazing smelling
laundry that still smells good even after a week of being on the road lol…..

The next day we made our way to Calgary on another scorcher of a day!! We made it to the Ironwood and played a wicked show! Thanks to all who came out! This one was a sweaty one lol….we had guitar strap sweat marks across our backs…it was at least 40 degrees in there with no fan! Nothing a grasshopper with lemon can’t fix lol…mmmmmmmmm….

That day after our gig we made our way to Kinbasket Lake just outside Golden B.C to camp for the night at the most beautiful place ever! Greeny blue water amongst those serene B.C mountains…sighh.lol..(I’m putting extra lol’s today just for Carmel who sarcastically remarked about the amount I laugh out loud in my blogs)

Monday morning we woke up bright and early and saw the sunrise over Kinbasket. We were on the road by 9:00 and on our way leisurely to Penticton for our next show. We stopped by markets with fresh fruit and swam in the Okanagan Lake as well as got some sprite slurpees of course….We made it to Penticton just in time to chill a little before the show with my good friend Ashley’s family! So great to finally meet them!!!! I’ve heard so much about them it was like I knew themĀ  but it was great to give them big ol hugs and see how Ashley is a identical replica of her mother but a brunette lol….anyways..thanks for givin’ us a bed, food, and beer…next time we’ll stay longer for sure! Our show at Voodoo’s was cool! What a funky venue! We were small but powerful on the stat Monday but everyone who was there was amazing and so was the sound! Thanks again Bill Okos! Best sound man eva! Also..this venue has the best rum ever! Donna, the owner, actually got the B.C liquor board to import this Voodoo Spiced Rum from the Virgin Islands! mmmmmmmmmmm…expensive but oh so tasty~! If you go there…get a drink of Voodoo Rum with 7up!

Okay….so travelling on, we head out on the road again and make our way to Vancouver early morning. This time we are in territory that even I have never seen. We took highway 3A through Southern B.C v.s taking the Coquihalla which I’ve seen quite a few times. We travelled through the craziest place ever, Hedley B.C. There we witnessed the most bizarre art gallery ever lol….We were wondering what these statue like objects were that looked like huge hookah pipes and as we got closer, we noticed that they were car parts, axles, gears, bearings, and marbles arranged in an art form that was truly unique and unlike anything I’ve seen! We were invited into a dark room where the door was closed and black light paintings and acid art lit up the darkness and the scent recently smoked marijuana filled the room. The man went on to tell the other visitor in the room about the artist who was apparently an old man locked up in the basement who refused to sell or part with any of his art. Needless to say, I did have a quick urge to run but instead stayed and realized that maybe the previously smoked marijuana was allowing the man to be artistic and create stories that were interesting and allowed for more tips in the donation bowl. lol! Wow…what a weird, interesting, and humurous situation that was. Hedley is pretty crazy…it’s even got old remains from the Gold Rush still up on the mountains.

And…moving on…

We stopped at K Mountain Vineyards and got some unique tasting Merlot. We continued onto Vancouver and met up with some old friends and had an amazing meal at the Sandbar looking over the Vancouver harbour. Today, here we are waiting and looking forward to our show at Cafe Deux Soleils this evening!!! I’m pumped to see some old friends and sing my heart out. Tomorrow we are off to Gabriola Island early and we are stoked to see more of beautiful British Columbia…

When we get off Island time and have internet again, I’ll have some interesting stories for you all…til then..hope you enjoyed this one lol….Take care!!!

Love Kim

Homing, shows, and what the h is a dropcard?!

Well well…I am back in Halifax, home, and still lacking sleep. I was in Saskatchewan for a surprise pre wedding celebration for my sister! We got her good! lol…it was pretty funny. Anyways…I had to fly back Sunday morning at 5am so I was up at 4am! Got into Halifax just in time for soundcheck for a wicked show with Charlie A’Court at the Carleton. Had a shower, grabbed a coffee and some food and off to play! What a night! I was so tired I was shaking and red in the face but I pulled it off. Man that Charlie has a voice that can make you cry, forget to breath, gasp, and jaw drop all at the same time, which is pretty spectacular! lol He’s also one of the most down to earth, genuine people you could meet, which is always so refreshing in the music business. It was a pleasure to meet him and open for him!

Next…the dropcard is pre-selling for May.1st but only at my live shows!!! So you should try and catch one so you can pick one up! You may be wondering what all these dropcards are about so let me tell you. My dropcard contains a bunch of wicked stuff!

I recorded 3 new songs in the studio. These 3 songs are done 2 different ways! A folked out laid back style, and a rocked up radio feel. Whatever you feel like listening to, have at it.
