Summer around home and the recording of a brand new album!

Hey folks,

I just got back from the Stan Rogers Folk Festival and I had a blast just kicking back and watching music for a change. It was such a nice break and lots of good times with friends. Before I start recording my next album, I’ve been taking a bit of a break from touring too much. I need time at home to plan for the album, write, and spend time in the garden and with people I’ve missed spending time with over the past couple years. I need time to go camping and have bonfires and canoe down the river!

But! I do have a couple local shows around Antigonish and Halifax that I hope you’ll check out if you’re around! The first one is July.14th as part of the Highland Games. It’s called “The Ship of 1801″ and I’m excited to be a part of it. It’s a musical story I was invited to write and perform a song for and tells the story of the Highland clearances and the settlement of the Scottish people around this area. It is the largest show I’ve ever been involved in and it takes a lot of rehearsal, but it is going to be a great show and I’m excited to be a part of it! Hope you can make it!

I’m also playing Music on Main with Carmen Townsend on July.18th at Columbus Field in Antigonish. After this, I head up to Halifax to record the album. There will be House Concert with Chris Kirby and I at the studio I’m recording at, Codapop Studio, on July. 27th. Email me at kim@kimwempe.com if you’d like to attend. All are welcome!

It’s been a long 2 years of touring with Painting With Tides and I want to thank everyone for their support. Everyone who came out to a show, spread the word, booked a show, bought a CD, signed up to the mailing list, all of you and more…thank you!

It is all about to begin again…a new album cycle. It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years since Painting With Tides! As you know, I’ve been writing for this album for the past few months, booking co-writing dates and spending a lot of time recording ideas and rearranging ideas. The recording starts this summer at the end of July with producer Chris Kirby at Codapop Studio in Halifax. It’s got a new direction which I’m really excited about…a bit more of an upbeat bluesy, gospel feel. I’m excited to share it with you all, but I’ve got a lot of work to do until then. Thanks for all the support again. It’s greatly appreciated..

I wish you all the best summer ever and I hope to see everyone soon!

Take care!

Kim
